What this site collects, where it goes, and what never leaves your browser.

Your measurements stay in your browser

The REW exports you load into the analyser are read and analysed by code running in your own browser. They are not uploaded to this site or anywhere else, and neither are the room dimensions you type into the calculators. No server holds anything about your room.

Archive links

An archive link carries the whole report in the part of the address after the #. Browsers do not send that part to a server when the link is opened, and the analytics on this site are set up to leave it out of what they report. Anyone you give the link to can open the report, so share it as you would share the graphs themselves.

Counting visits without cookies

Page views are counted with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. Each view reports the page address without the part after the #, and on your first page the site you came from. Vercel works out the country and the kind of device from the request itself. Within one day it tells visitors apart by a hash of the request, which it discards after 24 hours, so a visit cannot be followed from one day to the next or from this site to another. Only the totals are ever looked at.

What is saved in your browser

Two settings are kept in your browser's local storage: the theme you picked, and your answer to the analytics question, if you gave one. Neither is sent to this site. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes both.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Vercel. As with any website, your browser's requests reach Vercel's servers, which see your IP address and browser details and keep logs to run the service and keep it secure. The pages, fonts and scripts all load from this site's own address.

Google Analytics, only if you say yes

If you accept the banner at the bottom of the page, Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and one beginning _ga_, which let it tell a returning visitor from a new one. Both expire two years after your last visit unless your browser shortens that. Until you accept it sets none: Google still receives a page view with no cookie and no lasting identifier, which it uses for modelled totals.

Google Analytics data goes to Google, which may process it outside your country, including in the United States. Advertising use is switched off whatever you answer: this site runs no ads and shares nothing with Google for advertising. Google Analytics is the only service besides this site that your browser contacts here.

Questions and requests

There are no accounts and no stored measurements, so there is usually nothing held about you to see or delete. If you write in, the mail is kept as ordinary email and used only to reply. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live. For questions about this page, or to see or remove anything held about you, write to feedback@rewexplained.space
